A seasoned strategist merging profound naval experience with academic rigour, Commander Khan serves as a Senior Research Associate at the prestigious National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA) in Islamabad. His career embodies a seamless transition from operational command to high-level policy research, bringing a practitioner’s invaluable perspective to strategic studies.
Commander Khan’s areas of expertise are critically important to Pakistan’s future: maritime security, naval strategy, the geopolitics of the Indian Ocean Region (IOR), and the sustainable development of the Blue Economy. His research at NIMA focuses on safeguarding national maritime interests, analyzing regional naval balances, and formulating policies for Pakistan’s economic and security pillars tied to the sea. His work is essential for understanding the critical nexus between national security and economic prosperity in the maritime domain.
